Nico took me out as a surprise to celebrate the start of our holiday this past week. And what a delightful surprise it turned out to be when we stopped at Gingko. I love trying out new places, especially laid-back cafe-style restaurants.
Gingko is an organic and vegetarian eatery with a small deli / shop attached, perfect for stocking up on edible organic gifts. We loved the calm and unhurried atmosphere where we were left in peace to chat and peruse magazines at our leisure. We weren’t there just to relax though, and quite soon found our way to the buffet table. I have never seen so many delicious-looking vegetarian dishes all in one place before. Between the two of us we tried just about everything on the buffet, all charged by weight. Yum!
Of course we couldn’t leave without trying some of the dreamy organic / gluten-free desserts… I opted for the Chocolate Beetroot cake while Nico went for the Chocolate Brownie with extra vanilla sorbet. The chocolate cake was nice enough with a wonderful creamy icing but the chocolate brownie,,, it looked dry but instead was lovely and moist and the sorbet, out of this world. Somehow Nico always knows how to choose the best dessert!
We will definitely go back, however it is probably a blessing in disguise that Gingko is quite a drive from our home.
